Suggested methods for moving a turtle

Grasp the base of the tail firmly and lift the turtle with its beak pointed away from you. Carry it gently to a safe spot. Do not use this method for turtles with shells over 30 cm (12 inches) in length.

Slide a large flat shovel or piece of cardboard or plywood under the turtle. Drag it gently to a safe place.
